PC-Enging CD-ROMの初期の頃に出たと記憶しています。発売はｊハドソン。この頃はハドソンから、色んな他メーカーのタイトルが発売されていました。てっとり早くPC-Engingのタイトルを揃えたかったのでしょう。
このゲーム、CDで再生すると１トラック目はかの有名な「これはHEシステムのCDROMディスクです」以下略で、3トラック目以降にゲーム中の曲が一通り入っています。聴ける曲のみで13トラック、35分と言ったところでしょうか。
ファミコン辺りがライバルな当時は、十分過ぎるぐらいに良い音質と思いましたが、今になって聴いてみると特別に良いということはありませんね。アーケードの方は聴いたことがないので推測になってしまいますけど、シンセですっきりさわやかアレンジが入っていそうです。
思い出点がかなり加算されてしまいますが、コミカルでゲームゲームした曲が多く、テンポがよく、聴いていて気持ちがいい。個人的には結構気に入っています。今でも取り出しやすいところに置いていて、時折手にとっては聴いています。
本ゲームの内容を簡単に説明すると、各面の前半は半強制横スクロールアクション、後半はシューティングとなっています。ワンダーボーイシリーズの流れを汲むタイトルで、体力ゲージがあり、弾にちょっと当った程度では死にません(体当たりは死亡)。食べ物、アイテムで回復もします。それでいて残機制です。一見すると、かなり簡単そうなゲームに見えます。事実、最初の数面は簡単です。
が、結局正攻法ではクリアできませんでした。中盤から急激に難しくなり、後半の難しさは半端ありません。全14ステージですけど、私は通常のプレイでは11面が限界でした。裏技でコンティニュー無制限にできるので、それでEDは見ましたけどね(かなり後になって知った)。とにかく後半のクリアさせる気が欠片もない難易度の高さにギブアップです。
難しいとは言っても好きだからプレイしていましたし、何よりも音楽が好きでプレイしていたのも確かです。こうやって今になって聴いてみると、ちょっと微妙な感じもしてしまうのですが。
何れにしても、ゲームとしてもCDとしても使える本CD。このお買い得感はたまらないものがあります。昔はそんなにソースもなかったので、よくミニコンポで再生していました。PC-Engingゲームの一番の長所と言ってもいいのかもしれません。
中古屋にあれば安い値段で売っていると思うので、何かの機会に買ってみるのも一興ではないでしょうか。
